Making things has always given me a kind of peace. Clay, in particular, forces you to be present. It’s grounding, honest, and never lets you get ahead of yourself.
Johnny Vegas’s practice centres around clay as a way of slowing down, reconnecting, and rediscovering creativity on his own terms. Known widely for his work in television and comedy, his ceramics reveal a quieter, more contemplative side: hand-built vessels, expressive forms, and pieces that carry the marks of the making process. His work embraces imperfection, tactility, humour and sincerity, opening a window into a personal creative journey that has resonated strongly with audiences and collectors alike.
Each piece is made in small batches at his kiln in Somerset, where he works closely with skilled potters to bring his ideas to life.
